Spiritual Insights from Speculative Fiction

February 2, 2025 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Speculative fiction is an umbrella term that includes science fiction, fantasy, alternate history, and other genres that depart from realism.  Join us for the second of a two-part series in which we read excerpts from works of speculative fiction and talk about spiritual insights we can gain from them. In this session, led by Martha Luemers, we’ll read excerpts from the nineteenth century novella Flatland by Edward Abbott that imagine a two dimensional being’s encounters with one-dimensional and three-dimensional beings.

You don’t have to sign up in advance, but if you let us know you’re coming by emailing Amy Boward at amy@ladera.com, we’ll send you a digital copy of the excerpts.  Hard copies will also be available at the session.
