SUMMARY:Ecumenical Hunger Program (EHP) Adopt-a-Family
DESCRIPTION:This holiday season Ladera Community Church is sponsoring one family through East Palo Alto’s Ecumenical Hunger Family Share Program. The Bay Area has one of the highest costs of living in the nation and coupled with inflation\, EHP families are struggling and facing a bleak holiday season. Every family deserves hope and joy this holiday season\, and together\, we can help make that happen. Our church has a long standing tradition of supporting families in need at the holidays and your generous support again this year is greatly appreciated. \nThis year\, we will try out a virtual “giving tree” option. If you are short on time to shop for specific items requested\, you may make a financial donation here. Gift cards for stores such as Target\, Safeway\, Walmart\, Trader Joes\, Grocery Outlet\, and Costco may also be dropped off at the church office. Look for the gift wrapped donation box in the office. \nThe deadline for delivering physical gifts and gift cards is Thursday\, December 18th. DESCRIPTION:Worship is the heart of our community life. Sunday worship begins at 9:30 a.m. in the sanctuary and online via Zoom. All ages are invited. LCC worship is a joyful celebration of God’s presence among us. We find inspiration\, renewal\, and refreshment through song and silence\, prayer\, and reflection. We seek to integrate the arts – music\, drama\, and visual – to enrich the worship experience. SUMMARY:Special Collections: Puente de la Costa Sur & Friends of the Four Homes of Mercy
DESCRIPTION:This Christmas we will be collecting funds for two nonprofits\, one local\, one international. The evenly split collections will go to Puente de la Costa Sur in Pescadero and Friends of the Four Homes of Mercy in Palestine. Both have a great need for financial support in these times of upheaval.        \nSpotlight on Friends of the Four Homes of Mercy \nThis fall\, the Social Justice Team of the Ladera Community Church invited Liz Mulford\, the Director of Friends of the Four Homes of Mercy\, a Cupertino-based nonprofit supporting a remarkable care facility in Palestine. The Four Homes of Mercy is the first in the region to provide 24/7 short-term\, long-term\, and respite care—including rehabilitation\, for individuals with severe physical and neurological disabilities\, from age 4 through old age. Families contribute only 6% of the cost of care\, making this a vital refuge for those with nowhere else to turn. \nDuring her visit\, the Director shared a pressing need: help with the organization’s website and social media presence\, especially Facebook. While a few of us volunteered to assist\, it became clear that someone with specialized digital expertise is needed to build a sustainable platform that can connect with supporters worldwide and launch effective campaigns. \nIf you or someone you know has experience in nonprofit digital strategy\, web development\, or social media management\, this is a meaningful opportunity to make a global impact. \nLearn more:\nWebsite: fourhomesofmercy.com\nFacebook: facebook.com/fourhomesofmercy \nSpotlight on Puente de la Costa Sur \nAs federal funding cuts threaten to leave more people destitute\, hungry and homeless\, Puente de la Costa Sur has emerged as one of eight Core Services Agencies in San Mateo County\, providing social services deeply needed in this community of farmworkers and people in need. San Mateo County is expecting a big uptick in homelessness as people realize they cannot afford food and rent\, but Puente has enlarged its capacity to provide food for those who are hungry in South County. \nThe organization\, founded by United Church of Christ minister Wendy Taylor\, has grown through the years and now is involved in the battle for clean water and is raising funds to renovate an old apartment building to provide housing for those who need it most. \n Click here to learn more about Puente and their upcoming events and outreach efforts.

SUMMARY:Stanford Quads
DESCRIPTION:Modern square dancing is a recreation enjoyed by people of all ages in the United States and around the world.  We dance the Plus program utilizing All Position Dancing.  We often have an A2 or C1 star tip at the end of the evening.  All Plus dancers are welcome to join us for an evening of dancing.  Square dance attire is not needed.  Masks are optional. \n\nThe weekly schedule is:\n       Review: 6:00-6:30 pm\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n       Class: 6:30-8:30 pm\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n       Plus: 8:30-9:00 pm\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n       Star tips: 9:00-9:30 pm \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe cost is $10 per session.  We start a beginner’s class every fall in October.
