DESCRIPTION:One Great Hour of Sharing \nSunday\, March 15\, Special Offering During Worship Service \nEach year during Lent\, the United Church of Christ invites congregations across the country to join in One Great Hour of Sharing (OGHS)\, a Special Mission Offering. The 2026 theme\, “Our Love Offering to the World\,” beautifully captures solidarity with our neighbors near and far. \nThrough OGHS\, the UCC partners with communities help fund health and education initiatives\, strengthen agricultural development\, and provide emergency relief when disasters strike. OGHS also sustains vital refugee ministries and supports both international and domestic disaster response\, ensuring that help arrives quickly and compassionately wherever it is needed most. \nOn March 15\, we will join with churches across the denomination in receiving this special offering of love that reaches beyond our walls. As we journey through Lent\, may we open our hearts to the world God loves\, and may our gifts bring comfort\, dignity\, and hope to communities in need. You can also give online at ladera.org or via mail. \n

DESCRIPTION:Worship is the heart of our community life. Sunday worship begins at 9:30 a.m. in the sanctuary and online via Zoom. All ages are invited. LCC worship is a joyful celebration of God’s presence among us. We find inspiration\, renewal\, and refreshment through song and silence\, prayer\, and reflection. We seek to integrate the arts – music\, drama\, and visual – to enrich the worship experience. Worship continues in the many ways we seek\, serve\, and grow in the world. \n\nWe serve communion on the first Sunday of every month. SUMMARY:2nd Hour: Prayer in Poems and Secular Songs
DESCRIPTION:This seminar explores prayer as portrayed in secular lyrics and poems. We question assumptions we may have about prayer and gain inspiration from secular songs and from poetry. Music by Nick Cage\, U2\, Leonard Cohen (not ‘Hallelujah’) and Mary Gauthier will be heard and discussed. Poems by Mary Oliver\, George McDonald and Andrew Marvell (with music) will be read\, and the lyrical Buddhist Metta Prayer and an Aztec Indian Prayer poem will be shared. Come ready to dig deeper and find connection. \nColleen Crangle\, PhD\, is an award-winning short-story writer who has led seminars at LCC on Spiritual Insights in Short Fiction and Hildegard of Bingen. DESCRIPTION:Modern square dancing is a recreation enjoyed by people of all ages in the United States and around the world.  We dance the Plus program utilizing All Position Dancing.  We often have an A2 or C1 star tip at the end of the evening.  All Plus dancers are welcome to join us for an evening of dancing.  Square dance attire is not needed.  Masks are optional. \n\nThe weekly schedule is:\n       Review: 6:00-6:30 pm\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n       Class: 6:30-8:30 pm\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n       Plus: 8:30-9:00 pm\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n       Star tips: 9:00-9:30 pm \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe cost is $10 per session.  We start a beginner’s class every fall in October.
