SUMMARY:Redwood Symphony's Messiah Sing-and Play-Along
DESCRIPTION:You are invited to the 33rd\nMessiah (Mozart Version) Sing & Play!\nNow Hosted by Redwood Symphony\n**********************************************************************\nSaturday\, December 28\, 2024\n5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.\n(Downbeat is at 6:00 p.m.\, so don’t be late!)\nLadera Community Church\n3300 Alpine Road\, Portola Valley\n\n\nPlease RSVP here. You will be asked about such things as your vocal part or instrument\, which solo you might like to sing\, food you’ll bring\, and help you’ll provide. An early reply is good – we need to confirm solos with plenty of time for soloists to prepare.\n\nRefreshments are potluck and we will dine from 5 to 6 and during two subsequent intermissions.  There will be alcohol to imbibe.  The above link or the one in your email enables you to sign up to bring sweet and/or savory food. There is also a sign-up to help with clean-up afterwards; your help will be much needed and appreciated!\n\nWe will be using Mozart’s wonderfully inventive arrangement\, which calls for a full classical orchestra\, including double woodwinds\, horns and trumpets\, plus timpani. We will\, however\, use Handel’s original score whenever the Schirmer or Novello vocal scores disagree with Mozart’s and\, of course\, for The Trumpet Shall Sound. Handel’s solo trumpet part is iconic (and better than Mozart’s)!\n\nThe orchestra will be conducted by Eric Kujawsky. Instrumental music for both versions will be provided. Instrumentalists: you’ll need to bring a stand and stand light. Please respond if you can play by replying via this link ASAP!\n\nPlease bring any/all Messiah vocal scores that you have.\n\nThis is a party\, not a concert!!\n\nRSVP here.
