DESCRIPTION:The Ladera Creative Arts Program utilizes the creative arts to provide elementary through high-school aged children with the spiritual and psychological tools to help them live a whole\, healthy life. Zine-making and book arts are the primary creative modalities used for this program. Zines (pronounced “zeens”) are self-published booklets\, often made by cutting and gluing text and images together (similar to making a collage). Zines have a particular appeal in that they engage children in a creative process that utilizes the art of storytelling to deepen the child’s sense of self and to connect with others. Making zines requires no previous experience or skill level. \nThis is a non-religious\, creative arts program. Children from all faiths (or no faith) are welcome and celebrated!

SUMMARY:Ladera Creative Arts Program for Children
DESCRIPTION:The Ladera Creative Arts Program utilizes the creative arts to provide elementary through high-school aged children with the spiritual and psychological tools to help them live a whole\, healthy life. Zine-making and book arts are the primary creative modalities used for this program. Zines (pronounced “zeens”) are self-published booklets\, often made by cutting and gluing text and images together (similar to making a collage). Zines have a particular appeal in that they engage children in a creative process that utilizes the art of storytelling to deepen the child’s sense of self and to connect with others. Making zines requires no previous experience or skill level. \nThis is a non-religious\, creative arts program. Children from all faiths (or no faith) are welcome and celebrated!

DESCRIPTION:Worship is the heart of our community life. Sunday worship begins at 9:30 a.m. in the sanctuary and online via Zoom and Facebook. All ages are invited. LCC worship is a joyful celebration of God’s presence among us. We find inspiration\, renewal\, and refreshment through song and silence\, prayer\, and reflection. We seek to integrate the arts – music\, drama\, and visual – to enrich the worship experience. Worship continues in the many ways we seek\, serve\, and grow in the world. \n\nWe serve communion on the first Sunday of every month. All are welcome to the table!\nOn the second Sunday of each month\, Pastor Jeff has a conversation with someone from our community about their life and faith journey.

SUMMARY:Albany Consort Concert
DESCRIPTION:A concert of triple concertos by Bach\, Handel\, Telemann\, Corelli\, Nicolai and a new work by Sheli Nan to celebrate the birth of Julie Elizabeth Jeannin. \nThe Albany Consort has been performing in England and America since 1974. Husband and wife team Jonathan Salzedo and Marion Rubinstein run the group\, and they celebrated the births of both their children with concerts. One of their children is the group’s principal violinist Laura Jeannin\, and when Laura gave birth to Julie Elizabeth in September plans of this concert immediately started to evolve. Concertos for three soloists seemed like an appropriate theme\, and the group also commissioned Berkeley composer Sheli Nan to write a new celebratory work for the concert. \nThe Albany Consort draws on the most skilled Bay Area musicians\, with concerts varying in size from 2 to 70 musicians\, everything originating in the 17th and 18th centuries\, with occasional forays into the 20th and 21st. The group enjoys small drawing-room-like spaces where the audience can get close to the action. The lovely Ladera Church is a perfect space for their events\, guaranteed to provide a good time for both musicians and audience. \nCake and other light refreshments will be served after the concert. \nSuggested donation $35\, church community $30; no one turned away for lack of funds. \nInfo at www.albanyconsort.com

DESCRIPTION:Join us in supporting Maple Street Shelter\, a LifeMoves program that houses the homeless and veterans who are seeking employment and housing. Volunteers can sign-up to make 10 bagged lunches at home. After signing up you can shop for or use your own ingredients.
