DESCRIPTION:Modern square dancing is a recreation enjoyed by people of all ages in the United States and around the world.  We dance the Plus program utilizing All Position Dancing.  We often have an A2 or C1 star tip at the end of the evening.  All Plus dancers are welcome to join us for an evening of dancing.  Square dance attire is not needed.  Masks are optional.\n\nThe weekly schedule is:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n       Class: 6:30-8:30 pm\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n       Plus: 8:30-9:00 pm\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n       Star tips: 9:00-9:30 pm\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe cost is $10 per session.\nWe start a beginner’s class every fall in October.

DESCRIPTION:A slide presentation by Gary White will focus on the various aspects of climate change. It begins with a short review of the science behind the phenomenon followed by a detailed description of the numerous consequences of climate change. Lastly\, the talk will offer a framework for understanding the various solutions that need to be employed to address the climate crisis.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe presentation starts at 4:00 p.m.\, and the discussion starts at 5:00 p.m.\n\nBio:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGary H. White is a climate activist in the Bay Area who was trained by former U.S. Vice President\, Al Gore and his Climate Reality Project (CRP) in 2015. He has given over 300 climate presentations to thousands of people to date. Currently retired\, Mr. White spent nearly 30 years as a Human Resources Executive in the Silicon Valley. In addition to HR\, Mr. White was responsibility for Corporate Social Responsibility at his various workplaces. He holds a B.A. from Stony Brook University\, a Masters from UC Berkeley\, and an Executive Education Certificate in Corporate Social Responsibility from the Harvard Business School.

DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, November 10\, from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. \nSpeculative fiction is an umbrella term that includes science fiction\, fantasy\, alternate history\, and other genres that depart from realism.  Join us for a 2-part series in which we’ll read from two works of speculative fiction and talk about spiritual insights we can gain from them. This is a spin-off from the Spiritual Insights from Short Stories series earlier this year\, again at 11:00 to 12 noon in the Fireside Room. In the first session of the new series\, led by Martha Luemers\, we’ll read three pages of excerpts from the trilogy Thessaly by Jo Walton that focus on the reflections of the mythical god Apollo on his experience of becoming human for a mortal lifetime. \nYou don’t have to sign up in advance\, but if you let us know you’re coming by emailing Amy Boward at amy@ladera.com\, we’ll send you a digital copy of the excerpts.  Hard copies will also be available at the session.

DESCRIPTION:Modern square dancing is a recreation enjoyed by people of all ages in the United States and around the world.  We dance the Plus program utilizing All Position Dancing.  We often have an A2 or C1 star tip at the end of the evening.  All Plus dancers are welcome to join us for an evening of dancing.  Square dance attire is not needed.  Masks are optional.\n\nThe weekly schedule is:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n       Class: 6:30-8:30 pm\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n       Plus: 8:30-9:00 pm\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n       Star tips: 9:00-9:30 pm\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe cost is $10 per session.\nWe start a beginner’s class every fall in October.
